The collection consists of 15 carte de visite photographs, eleven of which show students at the University of North Carolina. They are mostly from 1866. There are also 15 copy negatives. The students are wearing lapel pins that appear to be from the Chi Phi Fraternity. Four of the photographs are unidentified. The identified individuals include Colin M. Hawkins, Alonzo Phillips, Thomas Henderson Pritchard, and Edmund Jones. The photographs may have originally been part of an album belonging to Hawkins.
